Module 5
21st Century Skills for Students and Teachers/ ICT Competency Framework for Teachers
Technology is becoming a big part our education systems. Interactive classroom not only help teacher teach all students at once, but helps with the “Technology Literacy” (Doering Robyler 2013). The interactive lessons will help with the “Knowledge Creation” (Doering Robyler 2013), which is intended to help increase productivity.
Technology use based on problem solving
With interactive lessons, you allow student to become engaged into their own work. The book states, “Students who learn by creating their own products with technologies report higher engagement in learning.” (Doering Robyler 2013) In an interactive classroom you can provide an environment that supports the students. Allowing students to become engage with a powerpoint, that they can answer through their computer or phone device offers “Visual Literacy”, where picture replace text as a communication media. (Doering Robyler 2013)
Constructivist vs. Objectivist
With the way technology is moving through our education system, I believe constructivist best describe the use of interactive classroom and flip charts. Constructivist is hands on instruction and student centered. (Doering Roblyer 2013) the teacher should be the only in the classroom teaching, student teach teachers with everyday experiences. Knowledge is constructed, not transmitted. (Doering Robyler 2013)
Flipchart
This flipchart I found is a writing organization flip chart. This flipchart help with organization of a written work and type of work it is. It helps to be hands on with your students. This would be an “Instructional Technology” (Doering Robyler 2013) instrument. Through this flip chart this will help with self-efficacy (Doering Robyler 2013) which is the belief in their own ability to accomplish the action necessary to learn.
Here is an example of a flipchart.

  1. I wrote in my blog that the interactive classroom is objectivist-based. I feel that when a teacher does an interactive lesson, it is still very teacher based, structured, and direct. I feel that it allows more hands-on, interactive time for the students. I can understand where you're coming from though with the constructivist theory.

  2. I have to agree that that the interactive classroom is constructivism based simply because the whole point is utilizing technology to let students show what they have learned in different ways not just on written tests (Roblyer and Doering, 2013, p.36). The flip chart Darrell chose is an example of accomplishing this through interactive review and then being able to show your results in the classroom.
